Okay, whatever with this title.
For all those who say, “You can do it all! You can have it all!”
No. I beg to differ. You can’t have it all. You can either have a clean house, OR entertained kids, OR a supplementary income. There is no D.) All of the above choice. (Might this change if I added Red Bull on an Amazon subscription list? Would the cans explode in the Las Vegas heat before I took them inside?)
I’ve chosen super summer fun (with several crash and burn mom-moments). With responsibility, and blah blah, boring functioning-human stuff mixed in, I’ve hardly found time to prepare for the family photos that I’d been so excited about. Womp womp.
After work yesterday, I ran to a mall to find something to wear for the pictures. Literally…ran. Swinging arms and everything. I popped into a nicer store than I usually do, about thirty minutes before it closed, because, you know, work.
I looked terrible, and it was reiterated by the sales woman as soon as I walked in.
“Are you here looking for the bathroom?”
“Oh, uh, no. Just a dress.”
I explained what I was looking for, and voiced my concerns about the fit because my mom-bod’s still kind of weird from having a baby. She assessed me herself.
“Well, you look…okay.”
We’re headed to our annual favorite beach trip, aka SUMMER. We are headed to summer. REAL SUMMER, as opposed to our inflatable pool summer.
I’m typing this in my car, while, for the first time in almost five years, I’m enjoying my time in the front seat. I’m averaging only 3/hour backseat-turn-arounds, have no seatbelt burn on my neck (yet), and have the nicest angel baby that sleeps in the car. A half can of Pringles spilled right behind me, but this out of sight, out of mind thing is working well for me.
Since I’ve yet to find a dress for beach photos, TOMORROW, I definitely haven’t had much time to catch up Fluent in Blonde. What’ve I missed over the last couple weeks? My brother Keaton and new sis in law Brette’s wedding was STUNNING (I’ll have to steal one of their photos, because mine don’t to it justice!), we spent a few amazing days with my grandparents, and visited Utah family. We’ve enjoyed tons of friend time, loved Brian’s parents visiting and treating our boys to movies and swimming, had friends over for the 4th of July, and…is that all? That’s it, right? Where am I?
Here’s a raw photo dump of it all (I don’t usually post friends on Fluent in Blonde because I don’t want to send them into cyberspace involuntarily, but check out this birthday girl BIRTHDAY GIRLING):
