After bedtime for babies, it is MY time. All mine! I get excitement induced ADD, I can’t commit to one activity for my couple of glorious hours. Laundry? Cleaning the kitchen? Reading? Finishing the last ten minutes of The Bachelor? In the process of deciding, I usually plop on the couch and scroll through Instagram for a second.
…which somehow, mysteriously, turns into an embarrassing amount of time. I go to bed extremely disappointed in my time wasting activity of choice, and ask myself what the heck I could have possibly been doing on my phone that whole time.
Well, Self, let me tell ‘splain. By clicking around from Instagram account to Instagram account, I stumbled upon Lil Kim’s page. If you don’t know who she is, you can take pride in that. I spent a hot minute trying to decide for myself if the former B list rapper is morphing into a white girl, or it if was just the selfie lighting (my observations proved unconclusive). I don’t know the last time I even heard of Lil Kim, but there she was, just as foul as ever.
Good to see some people staying true to themselves these days.
Minus that skin color thing, TBD.
In time AND money slaughtering Instagram surfing, I found an independent artist whose abstract work I adore. Kristi Kohut, see @hapiart.
Don’t these bright colors just make you happy, even when you just see them in passing on your way to dislodge a whole dill pickle from the toilet?
It has taken me since November to pull the trigger on purchasing a piece (ok, PRINT) of her work, but I finally did. 5-10 business days couldn’t come fast enough! I’m pretty pleased with my colorful addition to our wall.
Just for the record, I’ve grounded myself from after hours phone use for the rest of the week in the interest of my dignity. Tonight, I plan on cleaning my granite with some new microfiber clothes I bought at Target. $9.99 for a four pack! Talk about a thrilling evening. I hope my excitement is contagious enough that Brian will want in on the action.
